In preparation for Patagonia, Stan and I climbed Harney Peak in the Black Hills. This is the tallest peak between the Rockies and The European Pyrenees, at (ta da) 7242 feet. It was a really nice trail, with the coolest rock fire lookout at the top. When we got up there the sun was shining and the clouds were fluffing around below. By the time we left, we were in a world of white. From the top you can see into five states. North and South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, and Nebraska.
