I Modannari

This weekend was the annual chalk art festival at the Santa Barbara Mission. Our friends, Greg and Karen Goforth were here so we went over to check out the progress the first day. The artists were out in the baking sun, working away. They have huge trays of pastels. Their hands were covered with all the colors of the rainbow. Today Stan and I went back to see the end result. It is truly incredible!! And to think they only last for a week or so...

A Home...

A house without friends is just a house, but a house with friends is a home and a great one at that!

Clearing things Up

Last Friday we hosted a little window unveiling. We started removing the plastic film from the windows. Wow! That cleared things up Quite a bit...

If I did Yoga.....

If I did yoga, this is where I would do it. The floors are almost all in and now I'm thinking, do we really need furniture?

Loving these countertops!

Kristian and Stan worked so hard to get the color I wanted, and they nailed it. I had no idea that concrete countertops were such an art. Many samples and lots of time later, the tops are on and the kitchen is well on it's way. So perfect!

Still having fun with those stairs

The never ending stair saga is finally ending. The treads are done, the rail is done, the lamp is hung and the tower is painted. This is the month where everything comes together (keep those fingers crossed) and we can move back home. We won't be all done but we'll be done enough!

Real Stairs

Kristian has been working really hard on getting the stairs up. Yesterday was a big day. Stan and Kristian finally got to set them and see the results. It's a lot easier to walk up and down too!

Getting Closer

We're getting closer every day! Now that the scaffolding is down you can really see the shape of the house. Time to concentrate on the inside.

getting away from it all

So finally! We get out of town for a couple of days. San Francisco was the perfect spot. Beautiful weather, lots of walking, great food and no decisions. It worked for us. We spent some time watching the Mid Winters Series on the Bay. Lots of boats and NO WIND!! Pretty unusual for San Fran.

Going up or going down, it's all good..

These stairs are so fun. We just have to decide what to make the treads out of. Feel free to go wild with any suggestions. The plywood is getting us up and down for the moment!

Dome Done!

We can't wait to get the scaffolding down so we can see it without all the rigamarole....

It's all about the Dome

For the last couple of weeks we've been working on the dome, inside and out. These pictures should give a sneak preview. There's a whole lot of energy going into this! I think you can say that it will be the only one like it around here.
